600 new apartments for Belfast city centre

The Belfast Telegraph recently reported that amlost 600 new apartments are to be built in Belfast city centre. 

A site previously approved for new offices in Belfast is to be converted to nearly 600 bedroom units to house the city’s burgeoning student population.

Belfast city centre student and teaching staff numbers have swelled to around 15,000 after Ulster University’s new York Street campus expanded its presence.

The Smithfield site, previously a surface car park between Gresham Street and Winetavern Street, had been approved by Belfast City Council planners for an office-based scheme.
