More landlords have been pulled into 60% tax, giving them another reason to sell and decreasing private rental housing even further. Many landlords were already forced into 40% tax but for those having to pay more than half of their profits to the government, there is little incentive to keep their investments. Dwindling rented housing stock is mainly a result of the failed policies of the last government, but those polices have now been taken up by the new Labour government. Less rental homes = higher prices for tenants.

In two years, the number of 60% taxpayers has risen by a whopping 18%. The government deliberately failed to address this tax trap at the last budget, and it is not just landlords who have been hit, but those creating and running successful businesses, contributing to the UK economy and creating employment.

This Labour government is showing itself not just to be anti-landlord but anti-business. And let's not start on farming!!
