Yet another new regulation comes into force on 1st April 2025 for Northern Ireland landlords. Rent rises will be restricted to one per year for each tenant. Whilst tenants (and our MLAs) might think that this is a good thing for renters, in fact where it has been implemented in other parts of the UK, landlords simply increase rents to higher amounts. It means that a landlord who would like to stage an increase in rent for a tenant is now prohibited from doing so.
