Labour consider national insurance on rental income
Posted: 8/9/2025
Labour are reported to be considering charging national insurance on rental income. This would be yet another financial blow to landlords and may well be the straw that breaks the camels back for those who have not yet sold up, further reducing the supply of rental property. The reduction in supply across the UK has already resulted in rocketing rents over the past few years. Another tax on landlords will simply be passed onto tenants in higher rents, so if Labour proceed with the idea it will be tenants who will pay.
