BBC "anti-landlord" bias reporting again
The BBC’s bias against private landlords played out again on a recent news programme. BBC Radio Ulster ran a piece about rent rises in Northern Ireland and gave airtime to a tenant who voiced her concern about the issue. However, they allowed her to make false statements unchallenged. The tenant stated that she had to meet certain criteria when applying for a rental such as a good credit score and having a guarantor but went on to say that landlords were not subject to any checks. This is incorrect as landlords are subject to mandatory landlord registration which can be refused if they do not meet the required criteria. In addition, landlords are also subject to an increasing amount of legislation relating to their rental properties.
Is it too much to ask the BBC to broadcast fair and objective reporting? Seems so.
