More and more landlords have converted their rental properties to holiday and short term serviced lets. Belfast has seen a boom due to a large shortage of hotel accommoadtion. In London, AirBnB saw a massive increase of 75% last year. As properties vanish from the long term rental market, this will reduce supply and increase demand. In theory this means higher rents. Over the last year in Belfast we have seen a very strong rental market, and prices have increased. While not great news for tenants, it is some relief for landlords who have been hit very hard by the tax man over the last few years.
