Agent's boards to be banned?
A major London council is to ask the government for powers to ban estate agent's boards. Camden Council says that in a recent consultation almost 90% backed the ban. Agent's boards would only be able to be erected with planning permission if it became law. That could spread across the UK and possibly also to Northern Ireland. Whilst it isn't an issue in most areas, there have been some complaints from residents in student areas that agents boards are being left up for too long and that streets are a "sea of boards". Given that the majority of buyers and renters now come from the internet, the idea could gain some traction. But boards do serve a purpose as some people do prefer to drive around areas to house-hunt. So it is up to agents to responsibly manage their boards!
