Low income tenants on housing benefit will breath a collective sigh of relief today as the NI housing minister has extended the welfare mitigation scheme, ensuring that the "bedroom tax" will not affect Northern Ireland. The funding was due to end on 31st March but has now been extended. Where the cuts were introduced in England, it resulted in widespread arrears and evictions. This move also will be welcomed by private residential landlords who don't want to be forced into having to evict tenants. Key One Property let and manage property for low fees and do not charge VAT.
