The RCIS have advised that they are going to simplify both the language and the format in property valuation reports. They plan to do this once Covid pressures are over. This will be welcomed by everyone involved in the property sale process, particularly first time buyers who are often confused and overwhelmed by survey reports. But will it clear up the continual ambiguity that is often found in these reports? - probably not. It is likely that where there is the slightest chance of there being an issue that the surveyor is unsure of, they will still comment about the "possibility" of such issues, for example potential damp, electrics not up to the very latest edition, etc etc.. all of which can scare off a buyer, particularly first timers.
