HMRC has extended the self-assessment submission date to 28 February this year due to Covid. Anyone due to submit their return on-line by 31st January will NOT receive a penalty if they submit it during February instead. However, there is a sting in the tail - this extension doesn't apply to tax payments; these must be made by 31st Jan. Late paid amounts will attract daily interest at 2.6% and a 5% surcharge if not paid by 2 March.
