The single kiosk, which is located in the City of London, caused several national newspapers to gasp at the extraordinary selling price for the box, which is designed – just – for a single person to stand in.

But the auction house behind the sale said that telephone boxes are one of its speciality property sub-categories at its regular UK auctions.

It currently has 12 for sale ranging from a guide price of £7,500 in Devon and Merseyside to £45,000 in Waterloo, (pictured above) London.
